AI写诗、编故事、进行艺术创作早已不是天方夜谭。

只要输入几个关键词，它就能在几秒内生成一首工整的七言绝句，或者一段颇有名家味道的散文。

既然机器比我们更会"创作"，未来世界的人类真的还需要文学作品吗？

答案是：不仅需要，而且比任何时候都更需要。

算法可以分析情感，却无法真正感受它。而人与人之间的理解与联结，恰恰维系于此。

There's one habit that builds brain mass, improves behavior, creates empathy, and causes exam scores to skyrocket. Research shows it's not playing a music instrument or even having super-smart parents.

有一个习惯可以增加大脑容量、改善行为、培养同理心，并让考试成绩飞升。研究表明，这并非演奏乐器，甚至不是拥有超级聪明的父母。

It’s surprisingly simple: reading for fun! This means the child is reading in a relaxed atmosphere with freedom to choose the content and pace that appeals to them.

它出奇地简单：为了乐趣而阅读！ 这意味着孩子在轻松的氛围中阅读，可以自由选择吸引他们的内容和节奏。

“Reading should not be presented to children as a chore or duty. It should be offered to them as a precious gift,” said author Kate DiCamillo. 

作家凯特·迪卡米洛说：“阅读不应该作为杂务或责任呈现给孩子。它应该作为一份珍贵的礼物赠予他们。”

My reading journey started as just such a gift from my parents as we took turns reading picture books to each other. Soon I was hauling home stacks of library books to be enjoyed underneath the lilac trees in our backyard. Reading for pleasure made me read far more (and understand far more deeply) than I would have if I read due to assignment, competition, or fear of failure. 

我的阅读之旅始于我的父母，我们轮流为彼此朗读绘本。很快，我就把成堆的图书馆书籍拖回家，在后院的丁香花树下尽情阅读。为快乐而读，让我比为了完成任务、应对竞争或害怕落后而读书时，走得更远，也悟得更深。

My motivation was my heart, and the human heart is infinite.

我的动力来自内心，而人的内心是无限的。

My academic results - 99th percentile reading and writing scores on university and graduate school entrance exams, a Master’s degree from the University of Southern California, a national championship win in public speaking - surprised my mother and father. But such results wouldn’t surprise researchers. 

我学业上的表现——大学与研究生入学考试的阅读和写作成绩均跻身前1%，南加州大学硕士学位，更在公共演讲比赛中斩获全国冠军——着实让我的父母大吃一惊。但这样的结果，却不会让研究者们感到意外。

Students who read for joy consistently achieve higher test scores in vocabulary, spelling, and mathematics, as well as advanced brain structure, cognitive performance, improved attitude/behavior, and mental wellbeing. Thus, “[w]e encourage parents to do their best to awaken the joy of reading in their children at an early age,” said Professor Feng Jianfeng of Fudan University. “Done right, this will not only give them pleasure and enjoyment, but will also help their development and encourage long-term reading habits, which may also prove beneficial into adult life.”

那些快乐阅读的孩子，不仅在词汇、拼写乃至数学考试中持续斩获高分，其脑部结构也更发达，认知能力更强，行为态度更佳，心理健康水平也更高。因此，复旦大学冯建峰教授鼓励道：“家长们应尽力在孩子年幼时便唤醒其对阅读的喜悦。方法得当，这不仅能让他们享受阅读过程，更有助于他们的成长，并培养出终身阅读的习惯，而这将使孩子受用终生。”

So what is the “right way” to instill a love of reading in children? My perspective is threefold.

那么，让孩子热爱阅读的“正确方法”是什么？我有以下三点建议：

Immerse your children in books. 

让孩子沉浸在书海中。

Sunny weekend hours spent in a bookstore or the Shanghai Library, exploring worlds of imagination, will be a cherished adventure.

带孩子在书店或上海图书馆度过阳光明媚的周末时光，鼓励孩子探索想象的世界，将成为珍贵的冒险。

Be flexible. 

灵活变通。

If your child wants to read fantasy fiction about cat warriors, nonfiction about tarantulas, or graphic novels about dragons, wonderful! Love of anything starts with our freedom to choose it. If your child wants to read the same book 5 times, excellent! Savoring beloved words in context is far more memorable than copying a word from the dictionary 15 times to memorize it.

如果孩子想读关于猫武士的奇幻小说、关于狼蛛的科普读物，或是关于龙的漫画书，那真是天大的好事！对任何事物的热爱，都始于我们选择它的自由。倘若孩子想把同一本书读上五遍，那也妙极了！在语境中品味心爱的文字，比从词典里抄写某个词十五遍来死记硬背，要令人印象深刻得多，这才是记单词的正途。

Share the joy. 

分享阅读喜悦。

Share books as a family or with peers in an Enreach literature class. Reading aloud, listening, and discussing adds an additional layer of learning and delight.
